Auntie Betty

Auntie Betty is a “Virtual Aunt” who uses storytelling techniques to connect empathetically with members of the community, share information, and answer questions. If you’re interested in learning more about Auntie Betty, you can read this paper from Cambridge.

At first, Auntie Betty was developed specifically for the East African community in Toronto and thus provided services in Swahili and Kinyarwanda. Auntie Betty 2.0 expands her reach to engage with many Black communities in Toronto.

Auntie Betty 2.0 was focused primarily on assisting these communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the pandemic slowing down, Auntie Betty’s focus is shifting towards helping new families, especially those with children between 0-6.
