The Pamoja Institute was founded in 2020 in response to the growing needs of the Black community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognized that there was a disconnect between the services provided and the needs of the community, and so we formed a grassroots group to provide individualized support and assistance to families in need. In 2021, we incorporated as a nonprofit organization in order to continue our work on a larger scale and address the systemic racism that plagues our society.

At the Pamoja Institute, our mission is to confront Anti Black Racism and provide the tools and support necessary for the Black community to improve their health and well-being. We envision a future where racial equity is the norm and where structural racism is dismantled. Our values are engagement, self-determination, and equity, and we strive to empower our community to participate in decision-making and self-determination. We believe that by working together, we can create a better future for all.
